A Memorable Tour with Chris Cheek
The DKSJ All Star project brought together the best students from the jazz schools of Bern, Lucerne, Zurich, Basel, and Lausanne for an exceptional collaboration. Under the direction of internationally renowned saxophonist and composer Chris Cheek, Marie Gairet and nine to ten young musicians had the opportunity to work intensively for three days on their own compositions before embarking on a tour across Switzerland.
From Basel to Zurich, via Lucerne, Bern, and Lausanne, the audience was able to discover a unique repertoire, the result of an intense creative exchange between the students and their mentor. Chris Cheek, known for his collaborations with Paul Motian, Carla Bley, Charlie Haden, Steve Swallow, and Bill Frisell, brought his experience and singular approach to the project, offering young talents a valuable immersion in the world of professional jazz.
